2008\9 Season Under 16s

Match Reports

A home game in the cup saw the game of two halves scenario

again, but this time Holywell were on the right end

of a thrilling result. The 1st half saw the away team have

5\6 break aways and end up scoring 4 goals as Paul reminded

the lads at 1/2 time there are 5 players in front

of the defence so everyone has to play their part in defending

from the front. The one real highlight of the 1st

half was a great free kick from 20 yds from Matt Perry

which flew into the far corner, although we won`t talk

about Freddie hitting the post with everyone beaten!. 1-4

at the break a real team talk required to pick the lads up

and to let them know in no uncertain terms what was now

required!!! Dexter came on to strengthen the strike

force and it soon became obvious that he was going to

be a handful, Reiss switched to play alongside Matt Smith

and the team started to believe, Dexter grabbed a 2nd,

then soon after Freddie slid another in and at 3-4 the

opposition were panicking, a through ball from Ross and

Dexter cleverly clipped the ball over the GK with a defender

all over him 4-4 game on and the supporters

were now enjoying themselves. At last the lads did believe

and after a few missed chances from corners and

open play that winning goal came from the head of Mr T.

Taniya anticipated the flight of the ball in he box and put

his header away there were minutes to go and without

any further alarms other than Jack dropping the ball in

the box we ran out winners at 5-4,  a cup run maybe?
