Away Vs Billesley Lions |
|
A game played in an excellent spirit on a decent pitch, almost a home game in terms of venue for some of the lads. It was more exciting than many Premier League games in terms of football and goal action. Holywell were really at the races this week straight from the whistle Mat P and Dexter were both creating havoc in their defence with darting runs and strong challenges whilst at the back Mat S and Reiss were keeping it tight. The lads quickly raced into a 3-1 lead with two goals from Dexter and one from Matt P. Unfortunately the lads switched off at the back and from a corner they pulled a goal back , then a long ball punt up field split the defence and the forward lobbed Jamie and 3-2. Matt P then scored a great fourth to make the score more aligned to the balance of play, but again Billesley showed some real desire and pulled another goal back, so 4-3 at half time. It did not take long in the 2nd half for some slick passing down the right to open up a chance for Freddie which he easily put away into the corner ( new boots did make a difference) 5-3 and even the ref was enjoying himself. Wesley then got in on the act finishing a off a nice move through midfield and then driving the ball into the corner from a pass from Ross. 7-3 was beginning to show the dominance of the play and when Ollie Kendal got in on the act 8-3 was comfortable. Changes were made and both Dexter and Matt Perry were able to score goals which completed their hat trick well done to you both. A further good goal was scored by Freddie, but the Ref did not have it on his note pad so we had to settle for the 10. A consolidation goal was a blemish on the score for the second half but 10-4 at this level and age group does not happen very often. (Sorry lads if I got some of the goals out of order I will need to bring a note book next time) |
