Holywell Harriers FC was founded in 1999 by Will Cumberton as a single team which has continued through the age groups. The team began life in the Central Warwickshire as an U8’s team playing small sided football. The club played its home games at Rednal Hill Junior School. The team moved to Rubery Leisure Centre, Holywell Lane as 11 A side football was launched at U11s. Holywell Harriers are currently in very competitive Division 3 of the Central Warwickshire League playing at U16s for the season 08\09. The team have played in blue as mini footballers, amber and black as boys\youths and the 07\08 and 08/09 season as young adults the team colours will be yellow and green. Players come from all areas of south Birmingham inc the Maypole and many players live in the Rubery\Northfield area of the city and attend schools locally. The area has a number of all age group clubs playing in the Central Warwickshire League which means it is difficult to attract good players, although being a single team club does mean that fees are kept to a minimum and there is undoubtedly an excellent atmosphere with players and parents alike. |
